NASA will send a helicopter to Mars (VIDEO)

NASA in 2020 will send a small helicopter to Mars, which will be based on the next-generation rover.

If successful, this will be the first use of an aircraft on a different planet, the department notes.

“Remote-controlled Mars Helicopter helicopter, designed for operations in the rarefied atmosphere of the Red Planet, weighs 1.8 kg, and the size of a small ball. It is equipped with solar panels and a heating system, “- said in a statement NASA.

Double screw Mars Helicopter is able to rotate at a speed of 10 times the speed of Earth’s helicopters. he successfully climbed the tests to a height in excess of 12 kilometers – which means that on Mars Mars Helicopter can fly at an altitude of 30 km.

The helicopter is supposed to be used to reach those points on the surface of Mars, where the rover can not reach.

It is expected that NASA will send another expedition to Mars in July 2020 – in this case, the red planet will reach the ship in February 2021 year. The purpose of the expedition is to conduct geological studies and assess the suitability of Mars for life.

Vedomosti: Telegram is already testing the first block-service for storing passport and other data

Telegram created and began to test in closed mode the data storage service of Telegram Passport users for its future block-platform. This was reported by Vedomosti with reference to two people close to the messenger.

A new service will identify the identity of the user Telegram. With his help, you can download the data of the passport, passport, driver’s license, housing and communal services accounts, certificates of bank accounts and other documents to the messenger, the publication specifies.

Telegram Passport will also be able to ask the user to take a photo, write “Vedomosti”, referring to the data of the closed page of the site

All documents and data can be downloaded to the messenger and then instantly transferred to their partner services and used their services within Telegram and on the main services sites, the publication said.

Personal data and copies of documents will be available only to users – they will be encrypted with a two-factor authentication password, the messenger itself will not have access to them, a person close to Telegram told “Vedomosti”.

Telegram Passport can earn by the beginning of summer, adds the publication.

The messenger has been blocked in Russia since April 16 for refusing to give the FSB encryption keys from the users’ correspondence. In May, the company appealed the decision of the Supreme Court, which recognized as legitimate the order of the FSB to transfer keys to decrypt messages.

The intention of Telegram to create its own block-platform TON became known in January this year.

The movable wall helped a chaotic swarm of robots to seep into the gap

The movable wall helped a chaotic swarm of robots to seep into the gapA. Deblais et al. / Physical Review Letters, 2018

French physicists have found that if a chaotic swarm of autonomous robots are elongated to limit the movable deformable wall, they spontaneously begin to form clusters, and the whole system begins to move, not chaotically, and directed. Due to this effect, such a swarm can seep through the cracks or go around small obstacles, the scientists write in Physical Review Letters.

To run robots, some tasks may be more convenient to use one automated device, but a set of several similar elements. If such systems contain at least a few dozen elements, they are usually called swarm robots and their collective behavior is determined by the laws of swarm dynamics, which is based on the interaction of elements with the environment and with each other. Since all the elements in this system have been used for the first time, in different directions.

French physicists from the University of Bordeaux under the guidance of Amida, Kelle (Hamid Kellay) proposed to control a swarm of Autonomous robots, limiting their movable deformable wall. For this, the researchers used a swarm of robots plastic oblong with a length of about four centimeters, which are driven using the vibrating motor, operating at a frequency of 60 to 150 Hz. Under vibration, the robots start moving, asymmetrical plastic feet, with the result that they move in a random direction with a speed of 20 to 40 centimeters per second.

A swarm of these robots, up to 120 devices, scientists placed in a circular region with a diameter of 20 to 60 inches, limited movable flexible tape. It turned out that the robots in this movable “pen” do not behave exactly as in free space. If elements in the system is sufficiently small, then their dynamics is practically no different from an open system is a chaotic and diffusive character. When you increase the number of devices in the system, their collective behavior becomes organized. Exceeding a certain critical number leads to the fact that some of the robots begin to form ordered clusters. The system thus formed the two poles, which can occur in directed motion.

Scientists have quantitatively described the system by using the distribution of the cluster sizes. It turned out that in the system of a small number of robots almost all of them are either singly or in very small groups and can be described theoretically using a diffusion model. In large swarms, where robots have to constantly face each other, in addition to single elements, clusters are also present, and most likely the formation of one or two groups, consisting of several dozen elements. The exact number of elements in the cluster depends on the average speed of robots, and they are formed near the wall, pushing into it and moving the “pen” in space.

A. Deblais et al. / Physical Review Letters, 2018

Scientists have discovered that these clusters, which together move the wall in one direction solely due to the Autonomous and controlled outside of the movement, moves the entire system in a preferential direction (swarms of a small number of robots also move the wall, but in a chaotic fashion). When the directional movement is a redistribution of robots between clusters, which allows the system to seep through the cracks or around obstacles.

According to the authors of the study, the ability to control the movement of a swarm of Autonomous robots, limiting their movement of the movable wall can be very useful for the development of automated systems of micro-robots that have configurable properties. In particular, such mechanisms can be used to create a soft robots that needs to be sepped through the cracks or around obstacles of complex shapes.

For swarming robots, sometimes find a rather unusual application: for example, a group of scientists from the United States and France have an autonomous robots as the interface I / o, instead of the keyboard and monitor. Interestingly, a similar system can not be realized at the molecular level. Control a swarm of molecular robots is also in its mechanisms, so as to make the molecular motors from the microtubules to carry the joint action, for example to carry out a control method using the DNA molecules.

Microsoft came up with a smartphone with three folding displays

At the dawn of the era of smartphones, manufacturers tried to get around each other, equipping their devices with expanded memory and better cameras.

Now the user is not surprised, so companies have to dodge and come up with new trends. Especially if the business of producing smartphones has already failed once, and you want to return to the market.

Microsoft is not the first time trying to declare itself as a manufacturer of mobile phones, but so far not very successful. This time, the creator of Windows decided to shock the public with a smartphone with three screens.

Microsoft came up with a smartphone with three folding displays

According to the application, approved by the US Bureau of Registration of Patents and Trademarks, the Microsoft device will be folding, get two large screens and the third – located on the verge between the main parts. It is expected that an additional narrow display will serve as a link between the two screens.

In this case, the information on the additional third display will differ, depending on the orientation of the device and the relative location of the large screens.

While such a smartphone is only at the stage of the patent application, and its appearance remains a big question.

Scientists have approximated the clash of the star Gliese 710 by several tens of thousands of years

Thus, the “uninvited guest” should not be expected after 1.36 million years, as was supposed before, but approximately after 1.29 million. Scientists consider Gliese 710 to be a category of wandering stars. It travels freely around the Universe, without undergoing gravitation of other cosmic objects, usually restraining space objects in certain spatial frameworks. The speed of the celestial body calculated by astrophysicists exceeds 51 thousand km / h.

Astronomers are aware of the approach of Gliese 710 to the solar system for 22 years. Calculate the timing of the collision they were only 2 years ago. It is noted that the star will cross the galaxy not only several tens of thousands of years faster, but also penetrate deeper than the previous views of specialists.

Portable 3D-skin printer will help “patch” deep wounds

Scientists from the University of Toronto have developed a portable 3D skin printer that will help in the treatment of deep wounds. This is the first device capable of creating tissue, deposited and installed in place for two minutes or less. A study conducted by the student Navid Hakimi under the guidance of Associate Professor Axel Gunther was published in the journal Lab on a Chip.

When a deep wound is formed on the skin, all three layers of the skin – epidermis, dermis and hypodermis – can be damaged. Currently, the preferred treatment is to take an epidermopylar flap for skin transplantation, when some of the healthy donor skin is grafted onto the superficial epidermis and part of the underlying dermis.

Skin plastic for large wounds requires a sufficient amount of skin of a healthy donor to cover all three layers, so it is rarely possible to perform on site. Most of the wound surface remains “uncovered”, which leads to not the best outcomes.

Although there are quite a few skin replacements, they are not yet widely used in clinical settings.

“Most modern 3D bioprinters are cumbersome, operate at low speed, expensive and incompatible with clinical applications,” explains Gunther.

Scientists believe that their printer is a platform that can overcome these barriers, improve the healing process of the skin. Pocket printer skin is similar to a toilet paper dispenser – only instead of a roll there is a micro device that forms tissue sheets. Vertical strips of “biochernil”, consisting of protein biomaterials like collagen and fibrin, together form each plate of skin. The printer is extremely portable and promises the ability to adapt to the specifics of each patient and the characteristics of the wound.

A small device the size of a shoebox weighs less than a kilogram and requires minimal operator skills. Scientists hope that one day they will be able to begin clinical trials in humans and radically reverse the traditional approach to the treatment of burns.

SpaceX has successfully launched a modification of the Falcon 9 missile

SpaceX has successfully launched a modification of the Falcon 9 missile

SpaceX first launched the modification of Block 5 of the powerful Falcon 9 rocket. The rocket was launched from the Kennedy Space Center site (USA) and delivered the first Bangladesh communication satellite Bangabandhu Satellite-1 into space.

Block 5 is considered the latest version of the reusable Falcon 9 missile, which is capable of much more launches than its predecessors. Ilon Mask reported that this version of the Falcon 9 is designed for 100 launches over the entire lifetime. One day the rocket will be able to deliver people into space.

Initially, the rocket had to start a day earlier, but the launch was interrupted by a fault signal 58 seconds before the start. A day later, the launch took place without incident, all the actions took place in the usual sequence. After the division, the first stage successfully landed on the barge SpaceX «Of Course I Still Love You“In the Atlantic Ocean, and the second delivered the Bangladeshi satellite to the geostationary orbit. This launch has become a test for the Falcon 9, as it is planned to be used in the future for fast commercial flights.

Space agency NASA will send a small autonomous helicopter with a mission to Mars, which starts in July 2020. Developers want to explore the potential of aircraft in the study of the Red Planet.

The technology of the project began to be developed in 2013. The helicopter weighs just under 1.8 kilograms, and its blades rotate at a speed of almost 3000 rpm, which is about 10 times higher than the helicopter’s speed on Earth. The helicopter also contains built-in equipment for working on Mars, including solar cells for charging and a heating mechanism.

The helicopter will be delivered to Mars along with the rover “Mars-2020”. Once a suitable location for the installation of the device is found on the surface of the planet, the rover will be removed from it to a safe distance from where the commands will be sent. Dispatchers from the Earth will operate the Mars helicopter remotely. Because of distance, you can not control it in real time, so an autonomous system will accept and interpret commands from Earth, and then independently carry out missions.
